NorCal – Fun night at Breathe Carolina

Fun, free and a first time for everything

Breathe Carolina was one of my favorite bands during my ’emo phase’ in middle school, so imagine my excitement when I discovered that the duo was not only still making music, but they were DJs.

I was scrolling through Facebook when I stumbled upon the event page for Breathe Carolina and I wasn’t planning on going until my friend told me that tickets were FREE thanks to Midnite Events. Being the broke college student that I am, I took advantage of the amazing deal. As embarrassing as it sounds for being such a party girl, I never set foot in a nightclub until the night of the show.

Social Nightclub was a great place to have the event. It was big enough to not feel cramped, but it still felt very intimate. Breathe Carolina put on a fantastic show. I don’t think I ever stopped dancing. They played their old hits with an electronic twist, dropped amazing remixes, and really knew how to engage with their fans. I couldn’t believe that it was a free show. I almost felt like I was robbing them. The crowd was extremely respectful too and I never once felt uncomfortable. However the only complaint for me was the lack of visuals. There were only two screens, which makes sense as it was held at a smaller nightclub, but since visuals are my favorite part of shows, the lack of them made me not enjoy it as much as I could have.

All in all, I still had an amazing time, which surprised me since the tickets were free. I’m so glad that I went, I would have paid for the tickets if I knew it was going to be so fun.
