Give Thanks Festival 2023

Give Thanks Festival 2023

Thanks to the boys from Midnite Events, Give Thanks Festival had finally returned back to San Francisco where it all started after making its round through Richmond, San Jose and Sacramento, CA.  Give Thanks Festival has been selling out year after year in which it has outgrown many venues in its path, therefore, it was a matter of time before this event would eventually move into an arena that would hold over 10,000 people. So, when Give Thanks announced its 18th annual, I was ecstatic to see it take place at the Cow Palace where I have had many fond memories from the Coolword parties to the SkillsDJ POP events.

This event was an opportunity to reintroduce the Cow Palace back to a whole new generation of ravers; and what better way than to headline Subtronics on Thanksgiving eve the Wednesday November 22nd for day-1 and Porter Robinson on Saturday November 25th for day-2.  However, both nights were stacked with names to provide a variation for everyone.

Day-1 catered to the bass heads with Wooli, Riot Ten b2b Bear Grillzv, Level Up, Grabbitz and Sacramento local Xhale Ghost; while day-2 provided an EDM club vibe with Afrojack, Mitis, Yetep, Haliene and Electric Polar Bears.  The production stage took up very little room which provided a massive dance floor for at least 8000+ ragers while lasers, huge LED walls and four elongated truss filled up the Cow Palace quite well.  Though day-2’s music was more up my alley, day-1’s bass music wasn’t too overwhelming as I enjoyed it just as much.  The highlight for me was Afrojack but you knew that the crowd were eating at the palm of Porter Robinson’s set as they should be.

Overall, I was so thankful that Give Thanks Festival settled back in San Francisco and I cannot wait to see what the boys at Midnite Events got cooking up for 2024.
